Review for effect of Lactobacillus buchneri on the silage

Abstract: The hetero-fermentative lactic acid bacterium, Lactobacillus buchneri, has changed the definition and standards of inoculum, since it differs from homo-fermentative lactic acid bacteria and can improve the aerobic stability of silages. The effects of L. buchneri on fermentation, aerobic stability of silages and animal performance including present application conditions are reviewed and future directions for L. buchneri development are proposed.
